Don't believe half of what you read and less of what you hear

My grandmother was a cynic. Brilliant, but a cynic. The title was her saying.

I'm rather cynical myself, so I read and learn everything I can to make an educated decision.

Take Global *cough, gag* Warming.

Um, warming?

The cooling in 2008 is equal to 20% of all of the warming of the last 100 years as compared to the rest of this decade.

The warmest year on record was 1998. It's been getting cooler since then.

In fact, there have been all sorts of climate changes on many different planets. "The report further explains how NASA has reported that Mars’ carbon dioxide ice caps have been melting for a few years now. Sound familiar? An astronomical observatory in Russia declared that, “the Mars data is evidence that the current global warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun”. SOURCE

"Meanwhile, politicians are being listened to, even though most of them have no knowledge or understanding of science, especially the science of climate and climate change. Hence, they are in no position to question a policy on climate change when it threatens the entire planet. Moreover, using fear and creating hysteria makes it very difficult to make calm rational decisions about issues needing attention." SOURCE

So when I logged on today to read:
"This [global warming] is a matter of urgency and of national security and it has to be dealt with in a serious way. That's what I intend my administration to do," Obama said. REUTERS ARTICLE

Um...national security? Will the Aliens be able to pentrate the ozone layer easier as we whittle it away?

Give me a break!

Even Claude Allegre, a French scientist who was one of the first to warn of warming, has now changed his tune. He says “Enthusiasm for the global-warming scare also ensures that heatwaves make headlines, while contrary symptoms, such as this winter’s billion-dollar loss of Californian crops to unusual frost, are relegated to the business pages”.

The group also mentions that, “after the Second World War, there was a huge surge in carbon dioxide emissions, yet global temperatures fell for four decades after 1940.” They also claim that the report given by the UN, which said it was backed by over 2,000 of the worlds leading scientists, “was a ‘sham’ given that this list included the names of scientists who disagreed with its findings.”

In case you're wondering about the author of this post, our recycling each week far outweighs our trash, we compost every bit of organic material we can, we cloth diaper, buy American, make our own laundry soap (to put in our HE washer), use LED and flourescent lights, really miss our solar panels on the old house, etc....we believe in treating our planet with respect. However, I believe national security starts with our borders, not with our car emissions.

Absolutely! Now on a different note, where do you get LED light bulbs? :)

I probably should have been more specific than: "use LED and flourescent lights" The LEDs are flashlights and Christmas Lights LOL
